Joliet GirlJoliet Girl (North Star Press of St. Cloud, 2010) is a poet’s memoir about growing up in Joliet, Illinois, an aging steel town, in the late sixties and early seventies.  I wrote this book with a lot of love and not a little sadness.  My memoir deals frankly with difficult subjects such as my sexual anxieties as an adolescent and my coming to terms with a sister suffering from mental illness.  I also take a very hard look, in the second section, at how six sisters who were close when they were growing up lose that special bond as they grow older.  Use this link to order Joliet Girl and to read what Pete Hautman, Patricia Weaver Francisco, and Christopher Cokinos have to say about it. http://ourbooks.myshopify.com/collections/memoirs?page=2

Rain, Lilies, LuckRain, Lilies, Luck (North Star Press of St. Cloud, 2010) is the fruit of over twelve years of working hard at the craft of poetry.  Most of the poems in my first full-length collection are grounded in personal experience, blending lyric with narrative, but figures such as Gauguin, Rumi and Walt Whitman make appearances as well.  To order Rain, Lilies, Luck, click here.  You can also read recommendations by Michael Dennis Browne, Jude Nutter and Jim Moore.
